Mouthwash should never replace a solid brushing and flossing regimen, which is the only way to take care of your teeth and gums long-term. And while using mouthwash isn't a must, it can still be an effective supplement to an oral health routine.
What's more, it's a quality mouthwash period. \"It contains chlorine dioxide which kills bacteria and oxidizes volatile sulfur compounds that cause bad breath,\" explains Phil Devore, DDS, restorative, cosmetic, and implant dentist at Image Dental in Las Vegas. Meanwhile, Joseph Field, DDS, a dentist in Los Altos, CA agreed, calling it the \"best over-the-counter mouth rinse,\" since chlorine dioxide isn't destructive to the oral cavity like alcohol-based rinses can be, he says.
When I tested this mouthwash, I liked the customizable taste and the product overall. But as someone who already finds their oral care routine tedious with remembering to brush, floss, and use mouthwash, having to add my own flavor drops was just one step too many for me to opt for this every day. However, if you love a perfectly curated product or really don't like too strong of a mint flavor, this mouthwash is great for you.

Details: Oral Essentials Original formula for bad breath is just what you'd expect; the ultimate weapon for fresh breath! Our Original formula was the brainchild of 2 forward thinking dentists who wanted a more natural solution to oral care that still yielded powerful results and tasted great. This revolutionary product was the first of its kinds, combining Dead Sea salt with French essential oils, organic aloe vera and xylitol to uplift your oral care routine without any harsh chemicals, dyes or preservatives. Our mouthwash is created in small batches in California, and pasteurized double the average required time to ensure freshness without using artificial ingredients. This process makes it the ONLY double pasteurized mouthwash on the US market. We also stayed away from alcohol, which is a drying agent and known toxin, artificial dyes, which stain teeth, and other common ingredients like formaldehyde, saccharine, and sucralose, which all have many studies and articles written on them as being possibly harmful. Oral Essentials' Founder and Chief Scientific officer both found these hazardous ingredients to be unnecessary, and so took this much needed step back towards the basics. Dead Sea salt is the most potent salt in the world, with dozens of minerals and the lowest concentration of sodium in any salt, and so it is the key ingredient in all of our formulas. This ancient remedy combined with the freshening power of essential oils, the calming effect of aloe vera, and xylitol, a sugar substitute that may reduce the risk of dental cavities, made Oral Essentials the new gold standard in oral care. We are so confident in our products that we back all of them with a 30 day money back guarantee. Try it today and see for yourself!
The advice for daily oral care is to brush teeth twice a day with toothpaste containing fluoride and to practice interdental cleaning. The use of mouthwash with essential oils is not part of this advice, but is sometimes recommended when daily oral care is insufficient, or if mechanical cleaning is temporarily difficult or impossible. The results of a systematic literature review show that there is sufficient evidence, of moderate methodological quality, mouthwash with essential oils can reduce dental plaque and gingivitis. Oral care professionals can recommend mouthwash with essential oils as an adjunct to daily oral care.
Conventional mouthwashes contain about 26% alcohol. This is roughly 6x the concentration of alcohol found in beer. Rinsing with these mouthwashes can lead to drying out of the mouth and disrupt the oral microbiome - the complex of bacteria in your mouth that performs several crucial functions..

#2: Thyme belongs to the mint family and therefore is often used in mouthwashes and elixirs to give flavor and freshness for oral health treatments. It contains natural chemicals that help defend from tooth decay, gingivitis and general oral infections.
Yellow teeth can become whiter if you get an in-office whitening treatment. You can also avoid foods that cause stains, such as coffee, tea, and wine, and be sure to practice good oral hygiene, which includes whitening toothpaste and mouthwash and regular flossing.
When it comes to your oral health, you should always consult your dental professional for guidance. Using a standard mouthwash or antiseptic at a 1:1 ratio or less with water provides a pleasant experience, but it is not clinically evaluated to determine any benefits beyond using water alone. There are studies for adding chlorhexidine to a Water Flosser, and your dental professional will provide instructions for prescription use.
Many patients will often ask me about an additive, whether it is adding their favorite mouthwash or essential oil. I have encouraged patients to add their choice of essential oil or mouthwash to the water, if they choose to. For many years, I have recommended the use of a Waterpik device to all patients with periodontal disease and implants. It provides the ability to irrigate and will clean where floss cannot reach, especially at the base of pockets. In practice, I have seen great improvement in many of these patients with use of a Waterpik device. Adding either a rinse or essential oil allows the antibacterial and antimicrobial benefits to be multiplied.
Methods: An in vivo prospective, randomized, controlled, double-blinded study design was used. Ten subjects who had received professional prophylaxis 4-6 weeks prior to study begin abstained from oral hygiene on the lower anterior teeth for 3 days. Baseline measurements including gingival index (GI), plaque index (PI) and bleeding Index (mSBI) were recorded before and afterwards. Participants were randomized with regard to sequence of twice daily 1 min use of a test mouthwash (Oral Essentials Original Formula Mouthwash), a control mouthwash (Peridex) and no mouthwash while abstaining from brushing the lower anterior teeth. GI, PI and mSBI were recorded before and after each 3-day long arm, with a one week wash out period in between. The effects of each mouthwash on clinical indices were compared using a 2-sided t-test.
One of the main objectives of scaling and root planing (SRP) isthe removal of dental plaque and calculus deposits, which harborperiodontopathoge nic microbes such as Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans,Prevotella intermedia, and Porphyromonas gingivalis (P. gingivalis) [6, 7].It has been reported that subgingival SRP may result in resolution ofinflammation to some extent [1]; however, w ith deep probing depths, amucoperiosteal flap surgery may be necessary to achieve a greater reductionin probing pocket depth (PPD) and gain in clinical attachment level [2, 3].Risk factors for periodontal inflammatory con ditions include smoking, stress, and immunodeficiency [4-7]. Although chlorhexidine is a well-knownantiseptic for antiplaque action and has been used as an adjunct inconventional SRP for the treatment of periodontal inflammatory conditions;its side-effects including extensive tooth staining, taste alteration, andcalculus deposition limit patient compliance for its long-term use [7 ].However, essential-oil mouthwashes have been shown to be useful in reducingperiodontopathogenic microbes and in controlling plaque and gingivitis [8].In a randomized placebo-controlled study, Cavalca Cortelli et al. [9]investigated the clinical and microbiological long-term effects of anessential-oil-containing mouthwash as the active agent utilized in thetreatment of periodontal inflammation. The result s showed significantly morereductions of gingival index, PI, and PD in patients treated with SRP withadjunct essential-oil-based mouthwash used as compared to controls [9].Moreover, the essentialoils group revealed significant reduction onoccurrence of P. gingivalis in saliva comparing baseline values [9]. However,to the best of our knowledge from indexed literature, the role ofessential-oil-based mouth wash as an adjunct to SRP has not been investigatedin smokers. In the present clinical study, it was hypothesized that EO-basedoral rinse when used as an adjunct to SRP is more effective in the treatmentof CP in smokers as compared to when SRP is performed alone. The aim of thepresent short-term follow-up study was to assess the effects of SRP with orwithout adjunctive use of an essential-oil-based mouthwash in the treatmentof periodontal inflammation in smokers. 59ce067264
